SWT Snowboarding

SCHEDULE

World Snowboarding Rebrand and Website Development

A Phased Approach

Recognizing that the peak of the snowboarding season is from December to April, the project team would like to work with WST to determine what can realistically be accomplished by December. Losing the opportunity to better showcase WST to its many audiences during the 2017/2018 season would be a significant missed opportunity. We’ve outlined a preliminary schedule/approach below, but welcome the opportunity to discuss further.

Phase 1: The Foundation (Live by December 21, 2017)

The project team envisions using Phase 1 to focus on redesigning and developing the foundations of the new WST site. The site would be rebuilt using eclipse360’s proprietary, yet extremely robust, WordPress framework; which utilizes drag and drop sections for maximum flexibility of layout, and provides the ability to expand offerings in the future.

This rebuild would coincide with the planned rebranding of MemberPro for Sports which, in itself, will deliver significant upgrades to both Rider experience and NSA functionality.

This phase would include:
Planning and Design

  • Conducting audience research and further analyzing analytics to better understand how each of the different audiences are using the site
  • Conducting a content audit
  • Defining the function and structure of pages, including MemberPro CMS and data integration
  • Developing a sitemap and wireframes for both desktop and mobile

Development & Testing

  • Developing the required tools and widgets
  • Creation of the new visual identity
  • Reskinning the new site, using the existing tools, tables and structures to reflect the updated design

Subject to defining scope in the Planning and Design Step, the (aggressive) timeline for Phase 1 could look like the Gantt Chart (below).

Phase 2: User Customization & MemberPro CMS Extensions (Live by March 1, 2018)

With a solid foundation, Phase 2 of the new WST site brings in customization and the requested, value added, MemberPro CMS extensions. At this stage we’ve taken the time to observe and understand how different audiences are using the site and can make better-informed decisions about what enhancements could make the audiences time on the site more valuable.

Customization

  • The creation of a login area where site visitors can pick their widgets and customize their WST web experience ensuring they’re delivered the information they’re looking for quickly and effectively
  • The development of a series of unique widgets that pull data
  • The addition of a sports and data centre
  • Availability in multiple languages (we know from analytics the majority of traffic coming to the site does speak English, but large portions of the audience speak German, French, Japanese and Norwegian)

MemberPro CMS Extensions
In this phase we would work with WST to design and implement:

  • Online Forms, to support Event Applications, Waivers and Insurance Covers.
  • Rider Management Access, enabling authorized Sponsors, Team Managers and Coaches to manage Rider Accounts, pay Licensing & Registration Fees and manage the Rider information published on the WST site.
  • Event Organizer Access, enabling Event Organizers to submit applications, pay Licensing Fees and manage the Event information published on the WST site.

Phase 3: Our Wishlist (Beginning March 18, 2018)

Although Phase 1 and 2 of the WST site will have successfully launched and the snowboard season is coming to an end, but there is still so much potential for this site. The opportunity to continue growing and customizing the experience for different audiences is endless. What could the site include by the 2018/2019 season?

  • A fully developed judge education and training centre
  • A strategy to monetize different widgets available based on allowing sponsorship
  • An e-commerce section full of wearables and promotional items from WST and sponsors
  • The creation of a fantasy snowboard team, incorporating gaming and allowing more interactivity from fans around the world
